Waterfront Cleanup

We carried out a waterfront cleanup initiative bringing together volunteers from different schools, universities, and backgrounds, all united by one shared purpose: to take direct action for a cleaner environment and a more cared-for public space.

The initiative was designed not only to remove waste from the waterfront, but also to encourage community engagement, environmental responsibility, and hands-on participation in protecting Lebanon’s natural and public spaces.

The day began with a safety briefing, where volunteers were introduced to the cleanup procedure, safety guidelines, waste-sorting approach, and the importance of working carefully as a team.

To make the work more organized and impactful, the volunteers were divided into two groups. The first group focused on collecting waste from the waterfront and sorting it into the appropriate recycling bins, helping ensure that the collected materials could be properly recycled. 

The second group focused on watering the plants and green areas, helping preserve the existing greenery and keep public spaces healthy and welcoming.

By the end of the campaign, the volunteers had collected 50 bags of waste, equivalent to approximately 5,000 liters of trash, which were sorted and sent for recycling. In addition, 500 liters of water were used to water plants and support the maintenance of green spaces along the waterfront.

At the end of the day, each volunteer received a certificate of appreciation in recognition of their time, dedication, and contribution to the campaign. The day closed with coffee offered as a small thank-you gesture for their efforts and positive spirit.

This cleanup reflects our belief that environmental action starts with community involvement. By bringing together students, young people, and volunteers from different backgrounds, the initiative showed how collective effort can create visible impact and inspire a stronger sense of responsibility toward our shared environment.
